  • The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main comprises two papers.

    Paper 1 is conducted for admission into Undergraduate engineering programs (B.E/B.Tech) courses at National Institute of Technology (NITs), IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and Institutions/ University funded/ recognized by participating state Government.

    JEE (Main) is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced). Which is conducted for admission into IITs.

    Paper 2 is conducted for admission to B.Arch and B.Planning courses in the country.

     

    JEE Main 2026 Eligibility Criteria:

    Educational Qualification: Passed Class 12 in 2024, 2025, or appearing in 2026

    Age Limit: No upper age limit

    Number of Attempts: Three consecutive years after Class 12, up to six total attempts (two per year)

    Minimum Marks: No minimum to appear; 75% (General) / 65% (SC/ST) or top 20 percentile required for NITs/IIITs/CFTIs

    Accepted Boards: Recognised Central/State Boards, NIOS, International (AIU)

     

    JEE Main 2026 Application Form

    NTA has opened the JEE Main 2026 application window on October 31, 2025. Eligible candidates can submit their applications online until November 27, 2025 (up to 11:50 PM) through the official website. To complete the process, applicants need to enter their personal, academic, and examination details, upload the necessary documents, and pay the registration fee online. 

     

    JEE Main 2026 Exam Pattern

    Breakdown by Paper:

    B.E./B.Tech: 75 questions, 300 marks, Physics/ Chemistry/ Maths

    B.Arch: 77 questions, 400 marks, Math/Aptitude/ Drawing

    B.Planning: 100 questions, 400 marks, Math/Aptitude/Planning

    Computer-based for all (Drawing section is pen & paper)

     

    JEE Main 2026 Admit Card and Exam City Slip

    NTA will issue the JEE Main 2026 admit card a few days before the examination. Candidates can download it from the official website using their application number and password or date of birth.

    The admit card will include key details such as the candidate’s name, roll number, exam centre address, date and time of the exam, paper details, and important instructions. After downloading, candidates should carefully review all the information, and in case of any discrepancy, they must immediately contact the NTA helpdesk for correction.

     

    JEE Main 2026 Counselling (JoSAA) Overview

    The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will conduct counselling and seat allotment for admissions to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.

    Only candidates qualified in JEE Main or JEE Advanced can participate.

    Counselling is online and covers B.Tech, B.Arch, and B.Plan courses.

    The important dates for JEE Main 2026 are: Session 1 exam from January 21-30, 2026, and Session 2 exam from April 1-10, 2026. The application deadline for Session 1 was November 27, 2025.
