About Indian Railways:

RRB JE Application Fee

  • For all candidates Out of this fee of Rs. 500/-, an amount of Rs. 400/- shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges, on appearing in 1st Stage CBT: Rs. 500/-
  • For candidates who belong to SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, Female, Transgender, Minorities or Economically Backward Class (EBC). (Caution to Candidates: EBC should not be confused with OBC or EWS). This fee of Rs. 250/- shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges as applicable, on appearing 1st Stage CBT: Rs. 250/-
  • Payment Mode: Through Online by using internet banking or debit/credit cards or UPI

Stage-1: Written Test (Computer-Based Tests (CBT-1)

Stage-3: Document Verification

Stage-4: Medical examination.

 

The RRB Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA) selection process involves four stages: two rounds of Computer-Based Tests (CBT-1 and CBT-2), a document verification, and a medical examination. Candidates must pass each stage to be considered for final appointment. CBT-1 is a screening exam, while CBT-2 assesses technical knowledge for the specialized engineering discipline. 

 

1. Computer-Based Test 1 (CBT-1) 

Format: An objective-type computer-based test with multiple-choice questions.

Duration: 90 minutes for the standard exam, with an additional 30 minutes for PwBD candidates with a scribe.

Subjects: Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Knowledge, and General Science.

Marking Scheme: 1/3 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. 

 

2. Computer-Based Test 2 (CBT-2)

Format: An objective-type computer-based test with multiple-choice questions.

Duration: 120 minutes.

Subjects: Assesses technical knowledge in a candidate's specific engineering discipline.

Marking Scheme: 1/3 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. 

3. Document Verification

Purpose: To verify the original documents and certificates submitted by the candidate.

Process: Candidates must provide their original certificates for all educational and personal requirements to be checked by authorities. 

4. Medical Examination

Purpose: To assess the physical fitness of the candidate to ensure they are capable of performing the duties of a Junior Engineer.

Process: An examination conducted by authorized railway medical officers, including vision standards (e.g., colour vision, binocular vision, night vision) and other physical tests.

Outcome: Candidates who do not meet the medical standards will be given a "permanent unfit" certificate and will not be eligible for the Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA) post. 

RRB Junior Engineer (JE) Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA) Exam Pattern

 

The RRB Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA) exam has two stages: Computer-Based Test 1 (CBT 1) and CBT 2, followed by a Document Verification and Medical Examination. CBT 1 is a 90-minute screening test with 100 objective-type questions covering general science, mathematics, general intelligence/reasoning, and general awareness. CBT 2 is a 120-minute main test with 150 objective-type questions, including a technical subject paper, and is followed by a document verification and medical exam. All CBTs have a negative marking scheme of 1/3 mark for each incorrect answer.

Marking Scheme and Selection Process

Negative Marking: 1/3 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer in both CBTs.

Selection Process: Candidates are shortlisted for the next stage after clearing CBT 1 and then selected based on CBT 2, followed by a Document Verification and Medical Examination.
