The National Informatics
Centre (NIC) is an Indian government department under the Ministry
of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
It provides infrastructure, IT
consultancy, IT services including but not limited to architecture, design,
development and implementation of IT systems to central government departments
and state governments, helping in implementing the digitization initiatives
of Digital India.
The organisation also carries
out research in the IT domain and recruits various scientists and

Selection Process – National Informatics Centre (NIC) Scientist‑B
The NIC Scientist B
selection process 2026 is based on GATE score shortlisting followed by
personal interaction/interview and document verification. Shortlisting: Eligible
candidates with valid GATE score are shortlisted discipline‑wise and category‑wise
in a ratio of 1:5 for personal interaction/interview, based on their best
GATE 2024/2025/2026 score in the relevant paper. Document Verification &
Interview: Shortlisted candidates undergo document verification before
the interview; only those whose documents are found in order can appear for
interaction/interview which carries 50 marks covering technical knowledge,
communication and academic performance. Final Merit List: Final
selection is prepared on the basis of 60% weightage to GATE score and 40%
weightage to interview marks, with minimum qualifying marks of 50% for UR and
40% for EWS/OBC/SC/ST/PwBD in the interview. |
