GATE 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IITG) will be organizing the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) - 2026 on 7, 8, 14 and 15 February 2026. The GATE 2026 applications will be accepted from 25 August to 6 October 2025. The online applications will be accepted at the official portal of GATE 2026, gate2026.iitg.ac.in.

GATE 2026 Important Dates:

The GATE 2026 exam will be held on 7, 8, 14 and 15 February 2026. 
The GATE 2026 officials website gate2026.iitg.ac.in was launched on 20 August 2025. 
The GATE 2026 online applications will be accepted from 25 August to 25 September 2025 without late fees. 
The last date to apply for GATE 2026 with a late fee is 6 October 2025.

GATE 2026 Application Fees:

The Application Fee for the GATE 2026 is Rs. 1000/- for the SC, ST, PWD, and Female Candidates. The application fee for the rest of the categories (Gen, EWS, OBC) is Rs. 2000/-. The candidates can pay the GATE 2026 Application fee in online mode.

The application fee in the extended period i.e. from 26 September to 6 October 2025 is Rs. 1500/- for SC, ST, PWD, and Females. The application Fee for General, EWS, and OBC candidates in the extended period is Rs. 2500/-.

GATE 2026 Qualification:

Candidates who are currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program or who have completed any government approved degree program in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts/ Humanities are eligible to appear for GATE 2026

Opportunities Based on GATE Score

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a prestigious national-level examination that assesses candidates for a comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate-level subjects in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts/ Humanities for admission to various Master’s and Doctoral Programs and Recruitment by some Public Sector Undertakings.

1. Admission

Valid GATE score can be used for seeking admission to:

· Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts/ Humanities; and

· Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts/ Humanities, in the institutions supported by the MoE and other Government agencies.

2. Financial Assistance

Qualifying GATE score can be used for seeking financial assistance towards:

· Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts/ Humanities; and

· Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts/ Humanities, in the institutions supported by the MoE and other Government agencies.

Financial Assistance given to M.Tech students is Rs. 12,400 per month and is generally paid for 22 months. PG Scholarship (GATE/GPAT)

Financial Assistance given for Ph.D. programs (Direct Ph.D. after B.E./ B.Tech/ M.Sc equivalent with a valid GATE score) is Rs. 37,000 per month for the first two years and Rs. 42,000 per month from the third to the fifth year.

· Click on the GATE 2026 Application Form/ Apply Online Link

· Duly Fill up the Application Form

· Upload the required documents, Photograph, Signature, etc.

· Submit the GATE 2026 Application Form and take a printout of it.
