APPSC Group I Scheme of Examination/ Exam Pattern: |
APPSC Group I Scheme of
Examination/ Exam Pattern: The APPSC Group 1 Syllabus and
Exam Pattern consists of three sequential stages: Preliminary Examination,
Main Examination, and an Interview/Personality Test.
Stage 1:
Preliminary Exam (Screening Test) Type: Objective-type (MCQs),
screening and qualifying in nature. Marking: Marks are not added
to the final merit list. Negative Marking: 1/3rd (0.33)
mark is deducted for every incorrect answer.
Written Examination (Objective
Type): A) PAPER-I: General Studies No. of Questions: 120 Duration (Minutes): 120 Maximum Marks: 120 B) PAPER-II: General Aptitute No. of Questions: 120 Duration (Minutes): 120 Maximum Marks: 120 Total Marks: A+B= 240 Marks
General category candidates
generally need 30%, and reserved category candidates need 25%.
Stage 2: Main Exam
(Descriptive) Mode & Structure: Offline
descriptive exam comprising 7 total papers (5 merit papers and 2 qualifying
language papers). Scoring: Only the 5 General
Studies papers (150 marks each, 3 hours each) determine the final ranking.
Telugu and English language papers are qualifying, requiring a minimum of
30%.
Stage 3: Interview
/ Personality Test Nature & Marks: An oral
assessment worth 75 marks focusing on leadership and critical awareness.
Final Merit: Out of 825 total marks, combining the 5 Mains
merit papers (750 marks) and the Interview (75 marks). |

The APPSC Group 1 selection
process consists of three main stages: a Preliminary Examination, a Main
Examination, and a Personal Interview. You can check official updates and

1. Preliminary
Examination Role: Acts as a screening test
to shortlist candidates for the Mains. Marks are not counted in the final
merit list. Format: Objective-type
multiple-choice questions. Structure: Two papers (General
Studies and Mental Ability/Aptitude), carrying multiple marks with a negative
marking of 1/3 for incorrect answers.
2. Main
Examination Role: Determines the final
ranking and merit (for candidates who clear the prelims). Format: Descriptive written
papers conducted offline. Structure: Total of 7 papers.
Telugu and English language papers are qualifying in nature (marks do not
count toward final ranking). The remaining General Studies papers count
toward the final merit list.
3. Personal
Interview (Personality Test) Role: Final evaluation stage
for candidates who clear the Mains. Focus: Assesses leadership,
administrative potential, communication, decision-making, and general
awareness.
Final Merit: Final selection combines the marks scored in the
Main Examination and the Personal Interview. |
