POWERGRID, a Maharatna Public Sector Enterprise under the
Ministry of Power, Govt. of India and one of the largest Transmission Utilities
in the World, is engaged in power transmission business with the mandate for
planning, co-ordination, supervision and control over complete Inter-State
Transmission System. POWERGRID operates around 1,78,195 circuit kms of
transmission lines along with 279 Sub-stations (as on 30 th September 2024) and
wheels about 50% of total power generated in the country through its transmission
network.
About POWERGRID Energy Services Limited (PESL):
POWERGRID Energy Services Limited (PESL) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Power
Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), which came into operation from
August 2022. The turnover of PESL for the FY23-24 and FY24-25(Q1) was ₹67.15
Crore and ₹24.28 Crore, respectively. The Profit after tax of PESL for the
FY23-24 and FY24-25(Q1) was ₹8.08 Crore and ₹6.33 Crore, respectively. PESL is
executing critical strategic projects like Solar PV Plants and Automated
Metering Infrastructure, and also providing Consultancy services. As on 1 st
October 2024, PESL is maintaining assets of 16 TBCB Projects of POWERGRID,
which includes 17 nos. of Substations, 96 nos. of Transmission Lines (i.e.,
about 8,200 ckm). In the DMS sector, PESL is providing consultancy to various
central government schemes like RDSS (Revamped Distribution System
Strengthening), PMDP (Prime Minister Development Program) etc. International
consultancy in the DMS domain is also offered to countries like Nepal. PESL is
also exploring various other happenings in the Power Sector and working
in-conjunction with the country’s movement to provide 24 x 7 power supply with
increased Renewable Energy penetration.
